Release Notes June 2020

Here's what's new in Custobar in June! Our developers have been super productive this month, which means there are many cool features for you to try. Take a closer look to learn more.

Magento 2 plugin authentication

NB! If you don’t use Magento, you can skip this and continue to the next part!

To tighten security for current and future users, the newest version of the Magento 2 plugin uses authentication tokens instead of username and password. To create an authentication token for yourself, go to User management in Custobar and choose the API tab to create a new API token.

Please note: When upgrading the Magento 2 plugin, you will need to add the access token to your Magento's settings.

Google Customer Match integration

Custobar has a new feature that allows audiences to be sent automatically from the Custobar platform to Google Ads. This add-on is now free-of-charge for all our customers until the end of July 2020.

Google Customer Match lets you target Google advertising to customers based on the customer data collected in Custobar. With the integration, you can upload audiences into Google Ads and use them in Customer Match by either using them as a customer list or a look-alike audience.

Custobar sends hashes of email addresses and phone numbers of the customers in the audience securely for Google to do the matching.

Zendesk integration

You can now easily connect Custobar with Zendesk, the customer support ticketing system, from Custobar's Integration settings.

Integrating Custobar and Zendesk will match the ticket requester and your customers and automatically send the opened and solved tickets from Zendesk into the customer's 360° view timeline.

This integration unites your support data with all other customer data in Custobar. It enables you to use the Zendesk ticket activity as a base for segmentation, campaigns, and automation.

For example, if customers contact your support because of a faulty product, you can exclude these customers you have already been communicating to and send messages only to the other customers who have ordered the same product.

Your customer support team will also be able to see a 360° view of each customer, meaning all the sales and other customer data in addition to the customer support information in one platform. Your support team will be equipped with valuable information about the customer and so be able to serve them even better and offer them the right products and services.

Price updates before sending emails

This feature will surely be a popular one: you can now choose in the email editor whether to update fields (such as prices) in the email content before sending it. The options are "update all fields," "update prices", or "update nothing."

When update all fields is selected, Custobar will replace the content of email product modules with the current product data. When "update prices" is selected, fields "price" and "sale_price" are updated.

Please note: Some templates might use computed fields to display price, for example, discounted prices, or prices with cents in a different style. In this case, you should use "update all fields."

Campaigns

Activation – You can now save campaign configuration settings such as the scheduled firing time, the coupon setup, or the repeat rules before activating a campaign by clicking "Save."

Email editor #1 – Module colours are now grouped by their label. To use a single colour picker, for example, on all buttons of a module, define a unique name for them, e.g., "Button background."

Email editor #2 – The module identifiers are now shown in the tooltip for easier identification when working with template designers.

Email editor #3 – Email editor offers new, more flexibility in setting up the module background images by the email template creator.

Unsubscribe page

  • We added the Swedish language to the unsubscribe page options.
  • It's now possible to define a mailing list for the unsubscribe page. When a user unsubscribes via this page, it will remove the customer from that mailing list, leaving other marketing permissions and lists untouched. If that list were the only one the customer belongs to, the marketing permission would be switched off for email communication. Finally, the unsubscribe link needs to add the mailing list attribute to the usual link placeholder. For example:

This page can be added to a newsletter unsubscribe link by using the placeholder --unsubscribe_link--&ml=Newsletter_COM

Template editor

Making a copy of a template set is now possible. Just open the designer and choose “copy” from the options button. Once the template copy is created, it will have all the settings of the copied template. Hit “publish”, and all the modules will be generated and arranged in a folder with the new template.

Manual import

An option 'is_deleted' is added to the customer field when doing a manual import. This feature lets you delete several customers at a time from Custobar.

Settings

You can now define a default language for products that have variants. When a product is sent to Custobar with multiple language based variants, it is now possible to configure which language version is the "default." This is done in the advanced settings, under "Products."
